Jail Garden Tours
The Salt Lake County Jail Programs Division is proud to announce public tours of our garden
The next tours will be Tuesday, September 10, at noon and again at 5 pm. Each tour will last approximately 45 to 60 minutes and will be led by one of the Jail’s horticulturists.
The jail garden is located at 3415 South 900 West – directly south of the Adult Detention Center.
Prisoners will be working in the garden during the tour. For this reason, no guests under the age of 16 will be permitted.
Each tour will be limited to the first 16 guests to register. Pre-registration is required.
To register or if you have questions, please respond to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 801-974-7700.
Your registration must be received by the end of the day on Monday, September 9.
You may register other people to attend with you.
Please provide the full name and date of birth of each person being registered. Why do we need this? We will check each guest against the Jail’s visitor log. If you have been visiting a prisoner currently participating in the Horticulture Program, he will not be in the garden at the time of your visit.
You will not be permitted to bring cameras, cell phones, or other personal items into the garden.
Parking and other information will be included with your confirmation notice.
Please indicate which tour you would like to attend. If either would work for you, please indicate your first and second choice.
If you are unable to attend next week, we hope to see you in the future. Our current plan is to offer tours two days per month until all the produce has been harvested in October. We will keep your name on our email list and continue to send you notices until you request to be removed from the list.
The Office of the Sheriff is very excited to provide this opportunity for the public to learn more about Jail Programs. Our reception at the Downtown Farmer’s Market has been overwhelmingly positive. We thank you for your support.
