Chaplain Services and At-Will Programs
Good News Jail and Prison Ministry has been operating the Chaplain’s office at the Salt Lake County Metro Jail since 2003. With a full-time chaplain on staff, the program is able to deliver Bibles to prisoners who request one, lead group studies, and provide one-on-one counseling services. Chaplains also assist with death notifications and provide counseling in emotionally difficult situations.
In addition, Good News acts as facilitator for many religious groups (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Catholic Church, Jehovah’s Witnesses among them) to provide services and personal study.
Many 12-step recovery groups host regular meetings at the jail.
Other At-Will programs include relationship education, health education, creative writing and yoga.
All at-will programs are led by volunteers.
