The Salt Lake County Corrections Honor Guard presented the flag and led the Pledge of Allegiance. The Mayor issued a proclamation in honor of all those that serve in our armed forces, it was read by Greg Schulz. Undersheriff Carver spoke of the dedication and service of those in the armed forces. Afterwards we had refreshments and an open house. We would like to thank all of those that attended.

Magna's Night Out

Against Crime

This years Night Out Against Crime was held on August 3rd, 2009. We had a fantastic turn out and everyone had fun. We had fingerprinting for the kids. This included a picture of the child, any pertinent information and the fingerprints. The kids and the parents thought it was great! If you missed having your child's fingerprints done, we will have the machine at the Magna Substation until August 14th. It is a great thing to have in case of an emergency. We also had the Salt Lake County K-9's with a couple of their dogs, we had a few members from the SWAT team showing off their tactical vehicle, we had Search and Rescue talking to people how to stay safe and we had the Mobile Command Center that people could walk through. There was a lot more going on and all in all a great time to be had!

Here are a few pictures:

The National Children's Study

Is Coming to Magna

Starting in July, staff members from the University of Utah Department of Pediatrics will be visiting nearly 300 households in Magna to find out if anyone living there is eligible to participate in the National Children’s Study. They are asking for just a few minutes of your time to answer some questions about who lives in your household. We hope you will answer these questions, whether or not there is an eligible adult in your home. Please visit the website or call (801) 587-7373 for more information

New Magna Substation

Oquirrh Gang & Graffiti Group (OG's)

The OG’s (Oquirrh Gang Graffiti Group) was formed by Detective Esekia “Skee” Afatasi and is comprised of COP detectives, SRO’s, Town Council members, Civilian (Nancy White- Graffiti removal) and several patrol deputies from each shift. The goal of this group is to stay on top of all of the Gang and Graffiti related issues that arise in the Kearns/Magna area.  This group meets twice a month to share information between shifts and any new and upcoming Gangs and Trends. This group works real close with the Metro Gang Unit and shares a lot of good information with them. It is our mission and goal to help our community combat this ongoing gang and graffiti problem.

If you need graffiti cleanup materials please contact us or come into the precinct to pick those materials up. We offer paint and graffiti remover. If you need assistance in removing graffiti contact Nancy White.
