Kearns/Magna Precinct
Drug boxes are located at both the Kearns Precinct and Magna Substation. Any old prescriptions or unknown drugs lying around your house may be brought into our division and deposited to be destroyed.
Please seal the medications in a plastic bag prior to depositing them in the receptacle. If you don't have access to sealable plastic bags, we will provide a supply at the stations.
Helping teens become safer drivers
On October 7th, Allstate Insurance held a meeting at Kearns HIgh School to talk to kids from Kearns High about how to be safer drivers. They discussed how distractions like cell phones, texting, radio changing, and even passengers can cause distractions for them while they are driving. They were put through a test with these sorts of distractions on a closed driving course to see if they could maintain control of their vehicle while performing different tasks.
A few statistics they offered were:
- More than 5,000 teens are killed and more than 300,000 injured in largely preventable crashes each year.
- During 2006, teen crashes cost more than $34 billion annually in medical expenses, property damage, lost work, quality of life loss and other related costs.
- Salt Lake City metro area rates #88 among the nations 100 largest metro areas, which were ranked from worst to best in the study.
