Kearns/Magna Precinct
Drug boxes are located at both Kearns Precinct and Magna. Any old prescriptions or unknown drugs lying around your house you can bring into our division and deposit them into this box and they will be destroyed for you.
Please have them in a ziplock bag before droping them into the box. If you don't have any we will supply you with them. Also we have syringe disposal available as well.
Helping teens become safer drivers
Allstate Insurance held a meeting at Kearns HIgh School on October 7th, to talk to kids from Kearns High about how to be safer drivers. How distractions like cell phones, texting, radio changing and even passengers can cause distractions for them while they are driving. They were put through a test with these sorts of distractions on a closed driving course to see if they could maintain control of their vehicle while performing different tasks. Prooving that if they eliminate distractions they could be saving lives.
A few statistics they offered were:
- More then 5,000 teens are killed and more then 300,00 injured in largely preventable crashes each year.
- Teen crashes cost more then $34 billion annually in medical expenses, property damage, lost work, qualitity of life loss and other related costs in 2006 alone.
- Salt Lake City metro area rates #88 among the nations 100 largest metro areas, which were ranked from worst to best in the study.
- Most common cause of fatal crashes involving a teen driver, lack of seatbelt use was a factor by 38.5%.
