Bluffdale Community
Bluffdale City was incorporated as a municipality in 1978 and is located at the south end of Salt Lake County. The current population of the city is approximately 8200. The community is characterized by large lot development with animal rights and is a major crossroads for transportation and utilities between Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Bluffdale City is also home to one of the longest sections of the Jordan River corridor.
Bluffdale City currently contracts for three and ½ Deputies. Three of these Deputies are assigned to Patrol duties while another Deputy serves as a shared Property Crimes Detective with Copperton and the Unincorporated County. Like in Herriman, major crimes are investigated by our Pooled Services Investigation Units.
The County also provides three Patrol Deputies who work opposite shifts with Bluffdale to provide 24/7 coverage for both Bluffdale City and the Southwest Unincorporated areas.
What is Neighborhood Watch?
Neighborhood Watch is a citizen involvement program. While the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office continues to proactively patrol and enforce laws and ordinances, it is essential for the community to act as extra eyes and ears for the office by reporting suspicious people, vehicles and activity in their neighborhood. Organizations such as these may be the most effective and least costly means to prevent crime in and around the neighborhood. By working towards a common goal, community and law enforcement acting together can and will make a difference.
What does it take to start a neighborhood watch?
First, give us a call.
We'll give you a brief overview of the program and then explain how starting a Neighborhood Watch in your area will help you deter crime thus making the streets in your neighborhood safer.. Secondly, we'll set a mutually agreeable first meeting date where we will meet with your new group and help set up safe guidelines. To encourage attendance, you can create flyers announcing your meeting and distribute them to your neighbors about 5 days before your scheduled date. We will also suggest an agenda and bring helpful handouts to help you get your new Neighborhood Watch off the ground. It's that easy!
