              Bluffdale Community

Bluffdale City was incorporated as a municipality in 1978 and is located at the south end of Salt Lake County. The current population of the city is approximately 8200. The community is characterized by large lot development with animal rights and is a major crossroads for transportation and utilities between Salt Lake and Utah Counties. Bluffdale City is also home to one of the longest sections of the Jordan River corridor.

Bluffdale City currently contracts for three and ½ Deputies. Three of these Deputies are assigned to Patrol duties while another Deputy serves as a shared Property Crimes Detective with Copperton and the Unincorporated County. Like in Herriman, major crimes are investigated by our Pooled Services Investigation Units.

The County also provides three Patrol Deputies who work opposite shifts with Bluffdale to provide 24/7 coverage for both Bluffdale City and the Southwest Unincorporated areas.

Lock it and light it!

Have you ever opened your front door in the morning only to discover an orange "Sheriff's Office Neighborhood Patrol" door hanger dangling from your door knob? If so, take heart. These handy reminders serve as an educational tool, purporting the dangers of leaving your personal property unsecured. Open garages, unlocked vehicles and belongings left unattended in your yard are all open invitations to criminals to go ahead and steal away!  Most neighborhood burglaries are crimes of opportunity; simple security measures such as locking your vehicle’s doors and rolling up the windows (even when it is parked in the garage) as well as turning the porch light on are enough to deter a would-be thief.

According to current figures, half of all residential burglaries occur from a garage door being left open.  Even leaving it up just a little so pets can come and go may be enough for a determined thief.  Your concerted efforts can make a definite impact on the safety of your neighborhood. Actively taking steps to reduce your property’s vulnerabilities can go along way in keeping you from becoming a burglary statistic.
