Riverton Precinct

What services does the Sheriff's Office provide Riverton?

Riverton City Precinct is staffed by 30 full time Sheriff's deputies contracted to Riverton City

         6  supervisors (1 Precinct Commander, 1 detective sgt. and 4 patrol sgts)

       16   deputies assigned to patrol response (Riverton patrol districts)

         2   traffic enforcement officers

         2   property crime detectives (thefts, burglary, fraud, etc)

         2   C.O.P. detectives (community programs and neighborhood problem solving)

         1   S.A.Y. school resource officer assigned to Riverton High School

         1   D.A.R.E. school resource officer assigned to Riverton elementary schools

The Sheriff's Office employs over 340 deputies in addition to the many Corrections Officers, Protective Services Officers and Civilians throughout Salt Lake County.  Approximately 95 Sheriff's Office employees live right in Riverton including 38 deputies, 22 Corrections Officers and seven Protective Services Officers.

All of the resources of the Sheriff's Office are available to the Riverton City Precinct as needed. Many of these members have specialized assignements providing Riverton with a wealth of knowledge, experience, and expertise.

    SWAT  (the Sheriff's Office tactical team)

    Violent Crimes Unit  (including homicide, robbery, & adult sex crimes)

    Family Crimes Unit  (domestic violence and crimes involving children)

    Victims Advocates (civilian members who assist victims of crimes)

    Missing Persons and Runaways                

    Civil Unit (process of civil papers and court ordered actions)

         Information regarding Child-Custody, Protective orders,

          Landlord-tenant disputes, Small Claims Court, & Repossessions.

    Crime Lab (evidence collection and processing)

    Training Unit (providing the Sheriff's Office with year round training)

    Firearms Unit (state of the art weapons training and support)

    Search & Rescue  (urban and wilderness search and recovery team)   

    Records (data collection and information desemination, crime analysis)

    Narcotics (local and federal drug enforcement)

    Gang Unit  (task force providing gang activity investigation & suppression)

    Fugitive Unit (task force to apprehend wanted criminals residing in the county)

    Property Unit (extensive facility to properly store all evidence and property)
