Full-Time and Substitute Crossing Guards
are needed, especially on the east side of the valley. Must like working
with children and being outside.
Full time guards are assigned to specific school crossings throughout
the entire school year.
Substitute guards work on a call out basis to cover the crossings assigned
to a full time guard who is off due to sickness or other reasons. You must
be available to be contacted by telephone and have transportation to get
to the crossing location as needed.
Requirements:

Responsible adult a minimum of 21 years of age.

Pass a criminal background check.

Have a valid drivers license and transportation to get to crossing location assigned.

Available by phone for assignments.

Able to attend training outside of school crossing assignment.

Available during assigned schools times.

Willing to work assignments in all types of weather.

Ability to stand for periods of time from 45 minutes to one hour.

Ability to move about an intersection to an from the middle of the street as necessary.

Ability to reach and lock/unlock and activate school crossing lights.

Good vision, visual depth perception and hearing.

Ability to discern environmental conditions for risks to children, i.e. traffic or construction.

Ability to communicate safety instructions to students.

Ability to place and remove traffic cones.

Ability to lift, hold and carry a traffic paddle (stop sign).
-
Ability to discern when to create safety breaks in traffic patterns.
-
Maintain a sense of responsibility for the safety of students.

Communicate developing safety hazards to supervisor.
